At the heart of our dynamic city lies the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, an organization dedicated to advancing the interests of businesses in the community. But the chamber’s role extends beyond mere business promotion. As members of the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, we want to thank them for their commitment to strengthening Katy as a key city in the Houston Metro area. Connection & Networking
Founded in 1962, one of the primary ways the Chamber contributes to a stronger community is by fostering a thriving business environment. Businesses like ours join the Chamber for a multitude of reasons. The most common, is that membership provides opportunities to connect with other members, enabling valuable networking and potential collaborations.
The Chamber is a non-profit corporation that is funded by its membership dues. It hosts frequent events where members can see and be seen, helping us build relationships and expand our professional networks. The result is a more resilient and supportive local business community, which I very much enjoy.
Key Partnerships
The Chamber’s commitment to the community is further evidenced by its partnerships with key local entities. From the City of Katy and the Katy Independent School District to the Katy Area Economic Development Council, and various county organization, these collaborations highlight the Chamber’s role in fostering communication and cooperation between key sectors of our community.
The Chamber’s Legacy Members include organizations like Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, City of Katy, and Houston Methodist West Hospital. These members underscore the Chamber’s connection with significant institutions that contribute to the health and well-being of the community.
Communication
One of my favorite aspects of being a member of the Katy Area Chamber is that they keep members informed and engaged through various channels, including their podcast, Beyond the Chamber, that features local business owners, and a regularly updated blog. These platforms provide valuable insights, updates, and resources relevant to the local business environment and community happenings.
The Chamber also has committees like the Government Relations Committee, playing an active role in advocating for policies that support local businesses, from restaurants and interior designers to pet sitting and dog walking businesses like ours!
Katy Area Chamber of Commerce Best of Katy
In addition to networking, the Chamber actively engages with the community through initiatives like the Best of Katy. This program allows the community to recognize local businesses, organizations, and people in and around Katy for their services.
By providing a platform for nominations and voting, the Best of Katy not only celebrates local excellence but also drives community engagement and awareness of the diverse offerings within our great city. This year, the voting period is open from April 23rd to May 30th, culminating in an announcement event on June 26th.
