Elyson, the master-planned community in Katy, TX, hosted a special event last weekend that was perfect for the whole family – including pets! We were invited to bring a table and promotional items to promote our services. We brought some of our team members, including Todd and my daughters, for a day of fun at the Model Home Village. Today, I’m going to tell you all about it!
Pet Day in Elyson
This exciting event offered a variety of activities for both two-legged and four-legged attendees. Pet parents enjoyed pet-themed giveaways and the opportunity to explore pet adoptions hosted by Special Pals, who were positioned right by us at the event. We, of course, offered valuable information on our premiere pet services – dog walking, pet sitting, pet taxi, and home care – in and around Katy.
The event was designed to be enjoyable for the entire family. Kids were thrilled with pony rides and the chance to get creative with face-painting. And, as a special treat for the little ones (and maybe some adults, too!), beloved cartoon character, Bluey, made an appearance inside the Elyson welcome center, located at 7303 Prairie Lakeshore Lane.

There were even 20+ fully furnished models available to tour, giving participants a real sense of what it could be like to live in this vibrant community. In addition to their special events like Pet Day, Elyson’s Welcome Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and on Sunday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. About Special Pals
Special Pals is a Houston-based animal welfare organization that has been saving lives since 1979. It is the longest-running no-kill animal shelter in the Houston metro area. Special Pals is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals, aiming to ensure every animal finds a forever home. Their mission also includes transforming Houston into the Gold Standard for animal welfare through collaboration with local rescue organizations. They offer services such as animal adoptions, operate pet clinics, manage rabies quarantine, and have a nurturing foster care network.
Like they did at this event, Special Pals often partners with communities like Elyson to host pet adoption events. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity deeply rooted in community and fostering compassion.
About Pet Day
This pet-friendly event at Elyson’s Model Home Village was a fantastic opportunity to experience the welcoming atmosphere of Elyson firsthand. The thoughtfully crafted homes left me wanting to move. We enjoyed the family-friendly activities, and meeting Special Pals’ adorable adoptables. As most moms, however, I’m relieved we didn’t leave with any new homes or pets. Maybe we need one of those luxury homes to fit more pets?! wink, wink!
I enjoyed everything about Pet Day and hope we’re invited to future events at Elyson. I’m sure our little helpers who ended up spending almost more time at Special Pals’ booth than ours, would be delighted to come back again. They helped our booth neighbors with lots of snuggling and playing with the puppies that were up for adoption. I can’t think of a better way for tweek and teen girls to spend a Saturday!
